Outdoor Seating Makeover

19 Feb Outdoor Seating Makeover

I had a lonely corner on my back deck that was calling out for a nice little table and chairs to be able to sit at in the morning with the paper and a nice cup of tea.FullSizeRender-3

I finally found a great old marble topped table but still had no place to sit. So the search was on for some outdoor seats on the smaller side. While at a what can only be described as the largest rummage sale you’ve seen that lasts for a month – yes a month! – I found these beautiesFullSizeRender

Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. But I could definitely see beyond the hideous vinyl reupholstery job and the dirty yellowish-brown paint. The bamboo pattern spoke to me and I knew they only needed a little love to make them spectacular. So I brought them home, ran to the hardware store for some supplies and got to work. After taking off the seats and spray painting the chairs a nice glossy black I moved onto the job of recovering the seats.

FullSizeRender-4As soon as I saw this fun fabric I knew it was the one. It makes me happy just looking at it. Since it isn’t an outdoor fabric I got a can of outdoor Scotch Gard and spent all of 20 minutes cutting out the fabric and stapling it in place. Easy-peasy – really. If you’ve never done this but have some chairs that are crying out for a quick makeover please try your hand at it. You won’t be disappointed.

And here they are, my new chairs. I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out. Not only did I not spend a lot on them but they are completely customized to what I envisioned and wanted for the space.  I just love it when something works out!
