20 Mar Need for a Hobby
I have the hardest time stopping and relaxing. It is somehow wired in me to always keep going- always keep doing. I have needed a new hobby for a while. One that I can get lost in and just enjoy. Something that makes me stop everything else, and takes my brain to relax mode.
I have often been jealous of people with hobbies. We live near the beach, so I see the ocean adventurers out almost every day. The sail boaters, the kayakers, the surfers, the paddle boarders. It must be wonderful to just stop work and errands and do something fun- something that brings life. I am not quite up for shark infested water, so luckily I think I just found something that is just my speed.
I have had on my bucket list for years to water color. I have always loved the look of water color and have a friend that makes the most beautiful paintings as gifts for those she loves. I tried watercolor once, about 6 years ago. I went to the store, bought my materials, drove to a scenic spot, and started to paint. Seriously it might have been one of the more disappointing moments of my life as it looked like a 6 year old painted a lake scape. I still have this picture because it was hilarious just HOW bad it was.
Last night a dear friend who is an artist had me over to give me a watercolor lesson. We worked on leaves and flowers. To watch her paint I learned so much in one evening. We laughed, we talked, we mixed colors, it was perfect. I am proud to announce that I have a new hobby and I will be taking lessons from her each week.
