Christmas Wish List

05 Dec Christmas Wish List

Ok….I know it’s been an eternity since I’ve posted anything but your going to be like that good friend that you rarely get together with but can see and start right back up like no time has passed at all. Thank you for understanding my friend – that’s why I like you so much!

How did it get to the point that Christmas is a mere 3 weeks from now?!?!?! I’m starting to freak out a bit here.  But I actually came across something this week that I wanted to share with you. I found it in one of my favorite blogs,   She shared an idea that a friend had passed on to her and I decided to try it with my family this year. I don’t know if your like me but I love to fill the area under the tree with a piling tower of gifts for everyone. But most of the time I’m simply getting things I hope they’ll like to fill the space but don’t really think they’ll love them. So this year all my kids will instead be receiving 4 presents. That’s right, just 4. But they will be choosing them. I’ve given them a Christmas Wish List on which they will choose a gift in each of the following areas:

Read/Do (they aren’t all big readers so I added the “Do” – could be a game, tickets to an event, a membership somewhere, etc)

I told them to put a few choices in each and I would pick one from each category. Of course I then needed to set conditions since my oldest son sent his list back with a Bentley as the only choice in the want section and my youngest son sent his back with a Ford Raptor pickup in his. I told them I’ll see if hot wheels make those – geez!

I’ll let you know how it goes but I can’t wait to try this out. I definitely think it will make us all much more intentional in our giving and really help to put the proper perspective back into the holiday.

Hi Stacy, I love this idea. Even if you decide to give more than 4 or less than 4, you have the perfect list to choose from. Thanks for sharing.

Love this idea – though I think my kids would also come up with outrageous items! Yes, a Beamer for Zach, tons of clothes for Addie from Nordstrom etc.
      Fun to read your posts.
      Love to you,
